[BC] Lightning Prevention, Avoidance, Elimination and Charge Dissipati on Systems (CTS)

As far as I could see and from the limited references available 
without purchase from IEEE, the evidence on both sides appears 
emperical.

Can someone point to a reference where a study was done using 
scienctific methods instead of field observations and theoritical 
conclusions?
