[BC] strange Long Distance charges

My wife uses a card to call her father back in China and she pays like $
9.00 for a card gets 1000 (one thousand) minutes. I don't know how that
company can make any money. Of course somethings the connection is terrible
and you have to redial, but the card doesn't have a per call connnect
charge, just for whatever time used. I would be in the poor house if she
used AT&T.

Has anyone tried the 99 minutes for 99 cents phone cards that I see
at the local 99 cent store? It might be worth the buck just to see if they
are any good and reasonably useable.
