[BC] Daylight Savings Time changes?

Back around 1972 when President Nixon declared daylight savings time
year-round, the FCC was passing out 50-watt pre-sunrise authority to
daytimers that were not normally eligible for pre-sunrise. I worked for a
daytimer back in the mid to late 70's and found the paperwork for the 50
watt authorization. We were on a clear channel (850) inside KOA's protected
contour. I understood the 50 watts on the low dial position covered the
market pretty well, with a little monkey chatter from KOA in the background.

If I recall, back in the 1970's (tyhe last time they did this) The FCC gave
out HUNDREDS of 'special' PSSA's and PSRA's to daytimers as STA's.
This time they will have to!

I especially feel for the poor daytimers located west of adjacent channels
running IBAC. They're gonna get CREAMED!

Mike,

With their pattern, short towers and being caught by both WTOP and KSTP,
I doubt that would be approved, but I suppose it never hurts to ask.
If they did get a PSRA, I doubt the power level would cover very much.
It looks like they have about 9 mv/m/kW at 1 km toward WTOP and about
100 mv/m/kW at 1 km toward KSTP with their pattern. Even if they went
DA2 at night, what ever they did to decrease one limit would increase
the other. There is usually a very strong reason why a Class D has no
nighttime authorization even if it's only 5 or 6 watts. Methinks this
one should have been moved to the X-band, if possible.
