One tube phonographs used to use 35C5 or 35L6 tubes with the filament in
series with the (90 volt) phono motor...

I think I saw a similar tube in one tube phonographs. There were also some
that used a second winding on the shaded pole induction motor as a
secondary to drive the filament of the audio amplifier.
