The word about Springfield is that the family wants to sell the
station, to be done with it. The present staff of volunteers is
wanting to save the station, but without much hope - and the
family is willing to sell to anyone that has the cash.

The volunteers have put up a valiant stand, but anyone wanting
to make a profit is pretty much not going to want to invest. A
lover of the music they play now, if wealthy, may think different.
A review of the FCC's Consolidated Database System also appears to indicate
that the station's transmitter site was previously relocated without prior FCC
authority and that they subsequently obtained special temporary authority for
this relocation, the most recent extension of which expired in April. They
were also granted a construction permit to relocate to this new site in November
of 2004, but the CDBS shows no record of a covering license application
having been filed. On the positive side, however, they were granted a license
renewal in March of this year. Sounds like any buyer will have a lot of work on
their hands.
