[BC] electronic shops

I always avoided Radio Shack with its overpriced blister packs.  I never could find exactly what I needed there anyway.  But Radio Shack today has virtually nothing now except connectors, wire, telephones, and cheap HiFi gear.  It is a point of last resort for me.  The Post Office is pretty quick now and you can get the specialized stuff from places like DigiKey, Mouser, and All Electronics.

The real thing that killed the local electronics shops was Radio Shack. 
Just no way they could compete against that kind of muscle.  I'm luck enough 
to have a great surplus shop walking distance from the radio station that 
stocks almost every kind of resistor and capacitor I've ever needed.  The 
resistor isle is 8' high by about 25' long, stocked top to bottom.  Two 
isles of capacitors, two isles of connectors, big stock of transistors, 
IC's, everything CAT 5, plus new gear of all types.  That's were I found the 
pallet load of  9 GB SCSI drives for the Scott Studios equipment for $15 
each.  We paid $3,500 each ten years ago when they were new!
